Unperfect single finals
06 11 2010
Finals race was a story for it’s self. The concentration of the adrenalin mixed with greater expectations have pushed me hard at the beginning of the race. I have been able to keep up the pace with the leading guys Synek, Drysdale and Campbell untile the first half of the race. It was beyond expectations for me to fight for the peak of the race, but I have been counting for the golden middle of the finals. Nevertheless in the middle of the race I have started to feel the tiredness of all the previous races and haven’t no longer been able to concentrate on the smooth rowing . After the first half of the race I have also left Tufte and Zhang to over ran me. At the end despite higher ambitions I need to be satisfied with sixth place among crème de la crème of the world rowing scene. Regarding micro amount of time that I was left with for training in the single in this uncertain season I can be satisfied with my achievement. Now I need to focus into upcoming season where continuing with trainings in single can be a very promising option.
Great Finals of WC
04 11 2010
I am happy to say that I haven’t had such a good race in a while. I am glad to see that I row better from race to race and that all the work that I’ve invested during the season is showing results. Despite all predictions weather conditions have been ok and therefore the race has been a real adrenalin pleasure. Among the guys there were Swedish Karonen, Olimpic champion Tufte, Englishman Campbell, Lithuanian Griskonis and Jurkowski from USA. A bunch of quality rowers among them also favourites for the medals. It was Campbell who has started first and I have been trying to follow him, than I have focused on Tufte who had been attacking powerfully. I had been controlling Tufte, but at the end he has outran me for a pitiful half of a second. Swedish Karonen has lagged behind in a last quarter of the race. So I was happy to enter the grate finale among the experienced single scullers. The finales are on Saturday so chose your favourites and cheeeeeer!
Wins the repasage
04 11 2010
I’ve taken the lead at the start line and left my competition far behind. There have been couple of attacks from the chinese guy Zhang, but at the and it was obvious who will take the first place for a couple of seconds. It was a good race, my rowing was fast and very selfconscious, so i was happy wit the result eventougt the rest of competition among them Slovakian guy Babić and Russian Ryabcev havn’t been a real threat to me.
Good racing at the WCH premiere
01 11 2010
There has been some talking about strong winds and waves, trough the early morning, but than the weather magically changed and the heats began in a wonderful conditions, which would be nice to have in upcoming days to. Feeling on the course has been surprisingly good, what has also been seen from the intermediate time. I had been in the lead after first quarter of the race, but than Drysdale took the lead and has moved away from myself and the Swiss guy, to whom at the end I have left the race for second place, since only first place had been leading directly to semi finals. Tomorrow repesages will be going on from where first two places lead to semis. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and will show us a nice face at the right time, again.
Strong wind and waves stopped all races
31 10 2010
Strong wind and lake waves here on Lake Kairipiro have caused the first day of World Championship after just five races to stop. The wind was just too strong and waves almost really big, for one to be able to row. All the races including mine are in case of the weather change postponed until tomorrow/on Monday 1.11. 10. There is a tough competition feeling up my group, where New Zealander, four time world champion Mahe Drysdale and finalist of all the world cups Sweed Lassi Karonen are among the Dutch, Russian guy and Swiss. Anyhow fellas mean a good stimulation to my further rowing. Follow all the fuzz and buzz directly on www.worldrowing.com.

World Championship Karapiro 2010
20 09 2010
There are few weeks keeping us apart from the beginning of these year’s world championships. Taking place in a beautiful springy climate of New Zealander’s jewel Lake Karapiro. My appetite for a good racing and rowing is getting bigger after each training day, specially because I am facing freedom of a single sculler this time. I have to say that those modest couple of months of training in a single scull have been quite a trip for me, because I am improving every day and I am living my unrealized wish finally. Despite of a very uncertain season, where changing boats was practically my daily routine, I have left only two months of focused training in a single scull. So I hadn’t have a chance to test my improvement in a real race yet. So questions what the race will be like will stay open till the beginning of the qualifications. But to think of finally racing on a championship after already standing on a wining podium of a rowing Cup in the past, rises my adrenalin!
So after double scull, the quad I will conclude these season as s single sculler.
See you in NZ!
Sixth place on WC Bled
10 06 2010
The WC finals have been accompanied by heavy wet clouds that had been threatening to brake any minute and to avoid afternoon wind, we started our races earlier as announced. With boys we were convinced that we were able to fight for the highest positions, since the good feeling from yesterday’s race was still in our hands. After really efficient start we managed to lead first 500 meters, but nevertheless we couldn’t find that good stroke. Therefore competitors started to take our lead and finally we have lost them. As if that wouldn’t be enough, our stroke guy somehow managed to “lost his oar” so our sixth position has been guaranteed.
There are only three weeks keeping us apart till next WC in Munich and now will be the time to think the smartest option weather quad or double would be the choice from which I could profit the most. If i consider last year’s fifth position at WRC with my brother i can feel we have good option to improve that and show our work in lake Karapiro in New Zealand. The slogan of Bled’s World Championship goes like: It’s time for Bled, I say it’s time for the double.
WC_2nd in repassage
29 05 2010
First day of WC passed with mixed emotions since our freshly composed quad didn’t show it’s best rowing. We haven’t found our perfect stroke and have therefore lost second position which we had been having almost to the end of the race. We finished third and went to repassage which is actually good, because we get opportunity to get some extra millage which builds that “good feeling” for the boat.
Day two passed by in a sign of bad weather, but smooth water perfect for rowing. And so did also our rowing, somehow come together. We started powerful and from the beginning haven’t allow our competitors to come closer than for a length of a boat, since we had been building our advantage consistently from the beginning to the end. At the end Ukrainians eventually manage to be the one who won, but we didn’t want to waste too much energy to fight for a first place. Felling for the boat is getting better and I am looking forward for tomorrows finals.
Let the World Cup begins!
27 05 2010
Everything looks perfect and ready for Bled’s first World Cup to begin! Conditions are pretty OK except late afternoon wind which has been making high waves on this weeks trainings. People from all teams are already present and all more than satisfied with overall conditions.
As mentioned earlier I will be rowing in quad this WC and looking forward to seat in boat with fellow brother from last years double Jan Špik, Gašper Fištravec and Andraž Krek. The race will be tough as it is the early season and our freshly composed crew is still developing its harmony and qualities. The boat runs smoothly, still waves or any other inconvenient can brake our concentration as we haven’t got enough mileage. Hope for cool conditions and good being!
First of May Regatta_Day two_got the race
25 04 2010
First of May Regatta finished as i’ve expected. The double from last season with Jan when we finished fifth in WRC is progressing and therefore was no surprise we got the race to our team competitors Čop and Zupan. We let them only to get as close as to feel the sweetness of getting to win and than let them behind. It has been a quite fast race with time 6:20 as for Bleds conditions is not really comon.
On the other hand we’ve also tested the quad with Ulčar and Fistravec and Jan. Probably we will row that boat at the beginning of the season in first world cup in Bled as we will be hosting Bleds first ever WC in it’s reach rowing history. So stay tuned!

Zek attack!
23 04 2010
One of those days I was sent this funny photograph, which has immediately earned a proper place on my wall! No worries for now my both hands are still in a good shape, thanks to the dude on the right who has obviously founded a good place to put his graffiti artwork into action- good work Zek crew! And to the rest of you I wish you a shiny and successful season!
The photo on the left was part of a “Don’t drink and drive” campaign held in 2005.
